Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How long does it take to remodel a hall or guest bathroom?
A. Depending on the depth of your remodel, a face-lift takes approximately 1 ½ to 2 ½ weeks, while a full renovation is approximately 3 to 4 ½ weeks.
Q. How long does it take to remodel a master bathroom?
A. Plan on 2 ½ to 3 ½ weeks on a major face-lift and 4 to 6 weeks on a complete renovation.
Q. Will we need to move out of our master bedroom during the master bath remodel?
A. Yes, it’s best for both your privacy and comfort. This provides a staging area to work from and saves time and money on your project.
Q. Can I do some of the work myself?
A. Yes, although projects tend to go smoother when we handle them start to finish. We will work with you to make sure the project has little to no interruptions.
Q. Can I purchase my own materials?
A. Yes, on some items. For example: hardware such as knobs and pulls, robe hooks, towel bars, mirrors, light fixtures, etc. Otherwise, we will order materials to ensure best price and delivery speed.
Q. Do you only remodel bathrooms and kitchens?
A. Burton’s also provides design & construction services for residential additions, garage remodels, and most home repairs & improvements.
Q. How much does a bathroom remodel usually cost on average?
A. A powder room ranges from $1,400 to $5,500 averaging $3,500. A hall or guest bath averages anywhere from $2,000 to $15,000 averaging $8,100. A master bathroom falls between $6,450 and $74,870 averaging $22,400. (Note: these prices are our lows and highs over the last decade.)
Q. How much does a kitchen remodel usually cost?
A. Kitchens range from $6,500 to $120,000; they tend to average between $15,000 and $65,000 in Boise.
Q. Is refacing my old cabinets a good idea?
A. Yes, if your countertops and back splash are staying in place and the drawers and frames are still in good working order. No, if you have plans to modify the current cabinet layout or if new countertops are being put in.
Q. How much extra money should we budget into our remodel?
A. Nothing. Unless the plan we agree on changes substantially, all costs are figured in with your final design plan. Sadly, the industry standard for this is about 20% overage.
Q. May I buy my own appliances?
A. Yes, and we prefer you do so. However, they must be chosen and ordered before the final cabinet plan is completed and ordered, which ensures a successful remodel since appliance dimensions are very important.
Q. Do you charge for design work?
A. Yes, but we will credit the design fee towards your project if you choose to have us complete the project.
Q. Do you provide consulting services?
A. Yes, we have three levels of project consulting for those that choose to do their own remodeling project but would feel at ease with our experienced and professional guidance. Our consulting fee is $79/hr., and will save you time and money. By choosing Burton’s Luxury Bath & Kitchen as your contractor, these consulting fees will be deducted from your overall project costs.
